THE SOUNDS OF SILENCE - THE REASON WE LIVE HERE. My beach walk was marked by sounds of silence. Two pairs of raucous gulls bring memories of my childhood by the North Sea. Eight Piping Plovers appear, up from three last year, after a five-year absence. These tiny birds always bring cheer. A dove arrives as Junipers sprout new growth on old wood, Red Twig Dogwood, Grape Ivy, Willows, Marram grass. Beach life advances as water recedes. A Loon calls his mate as I walk home.
