The GSI pathway is relevant when groundwater flows to surface water in sufficient volume. The amount of such flow affects the warm surface layer of the water, the fish food chain and deeper waters where large fish live. A professional method is described to evaluate all aspects of habitat, the groundwater transition zone and bioavailability. Evaluation by experts is needed to complete a study of the groundwater - surface water interface (GSI) including water quality and flow volume. TNN hopes to fund such work with financial support from the membership.
