Three water wells contaminated by gasoline leaks were replaced by DEQ in June 2004 - out of reach of VOC plumes. The shallow plume on the vacated gas station site and the deep plume have both shrunk. Polluted ground-water did not reach Torch Lake or East Grand Traverse Bay. VOC were vacuumed from soil and water by a mobile system brought on-site. Trial runs were completed but it is not yet in operation. Health Department monitors water wells quarterly nearby. Tests and pilot studies are planned in 2016.
