A SPRING SUCKER RUN? Suckers are native fish that make springtime migration. Some species migrate from the depth of the Great Lakes into small creeks like Mitchell Creek. Their young thrive after adults’ spawn in water so shallow their backs stick out of the water. Riffles are the preferred habitat. A year ago, suckers swarmed at the Creek outflow in East Bay – but could not find a way in. You can volunteer to monitor whether spring spawning run will begin in this local Creek.
